The Avalon Bed & Breakfast is a Vermont country inn
exquisitly renovated and furnished to provide its guests with superior accommodations.
Open year round, The Avalon accommodates guests who enjoy spring, summer, fall and winter area sports and attractions. The town of Island Pond is home to the sandy shores of its beautiful lake, as well as The Bluff Mountain Hiking Trail, The VAST Trail, tennis courts, boat rental and the Friday Night Live Outdoor Summer Concert Series.
The Avalon is located directly on The VAST Trail. In the winter, after a fine breakfast, snowmobilers step outside and ride. Don't worry about parking your trailers. We have plenty of room for snomobile trailer parking. Located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, the inn caters to snowmobilers who enjoy the trails from late December until the end of March.
Skiing at Burke Mountain Ski Area is just a 30 minute drive away.

Elegance and country charm adorn the guest rooms and suites with its decor and accoutrements. Guest rooms are newly renovated and furnished with crafted furniture, armoires and a few antiques.
A private bath is available in some rooms. Amenities include full kitchen privileges, hot tub and breakfast.

Accomodations and Amenities For Our Guests
As a guest at The Avalon you will be free to enjoy our facility. Guests are free to use our indoor hot tub, have full kitchen
privileges and wake to a fine breakfast, prepared by your host. Breakfast and amenities are included. Towels are provided.
Our Spa Room
Our spa room includes a hot tub/jakuzzi, towels, woodstove, TV and cord wood conveniently stacked close by. In the winter, after a day's snow sporting, enjoy a hot jakuzzi and sit near a warm fire.

Our Guest Rooms

The Guest Room to the left, located on the first floor, is a charming country room that can sleep as many as four with our pull out bed. The furnishings are crafted sold wood furniture with fine bedspread and matching pillow shams. An antique victorian couch garnishes a bay window.
This room has a queen size bed, shared bath, TV and is $79 per night.

The Guest Room to the right, located on the first floor, is furnished and decorated in a classic Victorian Style with solid Victorian bedframe, antique wash basin and wash basin stand, armoire, and quilted bedspread. This room may accomodate as many as four with our pull out bed.
This room has a queen size bed, shared bath, TV and is $79 per night.

Guest Suite - Sleeps 4 - Private Bath

Newly renovated guest suite with private bath, living area and classic furnishings. Enjoy the second floor views from this spacious and pristine bedroom suite.
This room may sleep as many as four guests and is $40 per night, per person, with a minimum cost per night's stay of $125.
Guest Suite - Sleeps 7 - Private Bath

To the left and below are photos of our guest suite renovated with scandanavian wood panneling, vaulted ceilings, spacious living area and private bath. The suite sleeps seven with built in bunk beds, a double and queen size bed. A pull out bed is for extra quests.

This guest suite is located on the second floor with its own staircase extending from the Hot Tub Room.
This room may sleep as many as seven guests and is $40 per night, per person, with a minimum cost per night's stay of $125.

Area Sports and Attractions

Island Pond, Vermont is a four season retreat for sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. Visitors in the summer enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, biking and fishing. In the fall, the season brings a kaleidoscope of fall foliage in a breathtaking display of color and brilliance.
During the winter, snowmobiles visit the area to travail The VAST Trail that extends from Island Pond to Quebec, New Hampshire and points south. Skiing at Burke Mountain Ski Area is just a 30 minute drive away.
In The Summertime
Visitors in the Summer enjoy swimming, boating, hiking, biking and fishing. The town's pristine lake and sandy shores provide a focal point for summer water sporting. Boat and kayak rental is available in downtown Island Pond. Motor boat rental is available at Lakeside Camping, just a short drive away on Island Pond's northern shoreline. The lake is home to loon, once an endangered species. At night, in the summertime, you may hear the the call of the loon from Island Pond.
The town is also home to Bluf Mountain and The Bluff Mountain Hiking Trail. The Bluff Mountain Hiking Trail offers a mild to moderate climb. The entrace to Bluff Mountain Hiking trail is on Mountain Street, just a short walk from The Avalon.
Public tennis courts are located near the lake in downtown Island Pond. Court time is free and there is no sign up. The courts are maintained by the Town of Island Pond.
In The Fall

Fall Foliage in The Northeast Kingdom is well known for its display of brilliance. The mixture and varieties of birch, maple and beach create a rich palet of nature's colors.
The mountains and wilderness that surround Island Pond make for an idyllic place to enjoy the fall season.
In The Wintertime
In the winter months, from late December till the end of March, The VAST Trail opens to snowmobilers who enjoy riding through
stretches of wildernes in Island Pond and vacinity to various townships, Quebec, New Hamphsire and points south. Island Pond's lake is passable for most of the season.
The trails are groomed twice a week and are marked for safe passage. Maps are available in downtown Island Pond.
VAST TMA passes are available in downtown Island Pond at the Island Pond Welcome Center and may also be purchased from the Brighton Snowmobile Club. Five Day Passes and Season Passes are availale.
Skiing at Burke Mountain Ski Area is just a 30 minute drive away.
Ice fishing on Island Pond's lake, that is frozen over and passable by car and snowmobile each winter, is another winter passtime, here in Island Pond. Snow enthusiasts in the area also snowshoe the summer's hiking trails.

Directions to The Avalon:
BY CAR:
To reach Island Pond Vermont - northbound on I-91 take exit 23 at Lyndonville, VT.
Continue north though the town on Route 5 to Junction of VT 114
Stay on 114 all the way through Burke and keep on 114 until you come to Island Pond. This is a long, curvy road, app 20 minutes.
Come to the only stop sign in town, wait five seconds...., go about 50 yards and turn right, the pond will be on your right and the railroad station on your left.
Drive up a ramp/bridge and immediately turn left onto South Street (Pepins Garage is on your right), drive up South Street about 250 yards.
Next, turn right on to Mountain Street.
The Avalon Inn is on the right hand side. You will see Avalon sign. #124 Mountain St.
BY SNOWMOBILE:
If you are coming via snowmobile, then we are right across from the lumber yard in Island Pond, right near the railroad tracks, trail 114C. Cross the road, turn left, and you have arrived!
Some Interesting Facts About Our Location
We are located 23 miles south of the Canadian border. As a result The Avalon is just a 2 hours drive from Montreal, Quebec and a 3 1/2 hours drive from Boston, MA.
